The Dark Marionette

The curtains are closed
And the doors are sealed
Because I dare not entertain
The presence of the marionette
That moves in synchronised motions
To every step and gesture I make.
Its form casts shredded shapes and patterns
Of grotesque all around, on canvasses of concrete
And bricks, as my frayed and frazzled mind slips and slides
Into a spiralling vortex between the here-and-now, and the
Ghostly silhouetted landscape of nothingness.

We are locked in a dark choreography of macabre insanity,
Set in a nebula between anxiety and purgatory where despair
Is the only backdrop of constancy in the void.

The curtains are closed and tears
Streak my cheeks because fear and terror
Have my mind locked in a deep cavern of bleak
Lamentation that brings torment and turmoil.

The doors are sealed for I dare not entertain
The dark marionette that mimics and mimes
Every step and gesture I make, from its pit of blackness.
